To Hon. Mayor Bobby Eusebio, the Board of Regents, Dr. Amihan April M. Alcazar our university president, Prof. Federico G. Nueva school registrar, Prof. Noreen M. Arcangel our college dean, all professors, my fellow graduates, parents, ladies and gentlemen, Good morning!

I never imagined that I’ll stand here in front of you to give my speech, this is such an unexpected event of my life, the day that I will never forget and I will treasure forever in my heart.

Going back during my grade school days I know I’m not the child like other parents have and not even the type of student who’s always on stage to receive medals and certificates during recognition. But while growing up I learned and realized things. I started to look up to the people who achieved a lot of things and started to idolize them. My ways of thinking before is really different from my perspective today. Before I thought having a good grade is the easiest way to be rich. But I was wrong. Education is not all about studying and getting high grades. It really means to discover new things, to make us wiser, to help us develop our full potential and prepare ourselves for a real world and a mature life. Please let me quote Abraham Lincoln, “The best way to predict your future is to create it.” We are still the masters of our fate. And the best way to have any kind of insight into what will happen in the future is by dreaming, planning and by doing it.

3 years, 9 months, 3 weeks and 6 days have passed but I can still remember the feeling when I first came here at Pamantasan. College Life is never easy for me. The struggles and challenges are really different but as time goes by you’ll see yourself getting used to it, you just need to do the things that you have to do rather than to complain. But despite of those struggles, I will never forget the people that I share my memories and experiences with. Nandiyan yung mahaba yung vacant and mag-aaya mag dokil and yung magseset ng overnight para lang tapusin yung mga projects ng sabay-sabay, then minsan nauuwi lang sa kwentuhan, tawanan at takutan. Nandiyan din yung times na hindi kayo magkakasundo-sundo, magkakatampuhan at mag-aaway but after all those struggles, learning from all those experiences is the most important thing.

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig was built on 2000, exactly 18 years ago. Pamantasan serves as a door of opportunity to many students like me. We are blessed to be one of the iskolar ng bayan and the proof that education is possible to every individual because Education knows no gender, no age, no race and classification. For it is always open for people who are willing to learn and stand with their own feet.

As a student of PLP, I can say that I made the right decision to spend my college life here at the Pamantasan. It provides us not just good facility but also quality of education that even if I leave this institution, I will always be a proud PLPian. Choosing a local university that produces high quality education is very important It serves as the greatest investment that we can treasure for a life time. And behind these investments are people who did everything and sacrifice things for us to have it.

I would like to say “thank you” to all the people who became part of my journey because this won’t be possible without them. To all the people who are always there to inspire me, to lend a helping hand, to motivate me to believe in myself whenever I lose my strength, to trust my ability and to face all the obstacles that come in my life. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you to my family; to my sister, to my kuya, to my tita ninang and especially to my mom. To my father in heaven, to my friends “guys, you know who you are”. To our college dean and to all CCS professors thank you po for sharing your knowledge for us to grow professionally. And above all this, I would like to thank God for guiding me always.

To all the parents, I just want to say that this ceremony is not just for us, for your son and daughter, the graduate students of PLP. But I would like you to know that this ceremony is also for you, for all the hard work and sacrifice that you did for us to be here right now, to have this diploma and to have a better future. We owe you our success. This may not be enough to repay for all the things that you did for us but we would like to say thank you very much and we love you.

Please let me take this opportunity to thank the very important person in my life. I’m not the type of daughter who always says “I love you” and “thank you” but I would like everyone to know the reason why I’m here today standing in front of you, the reason of my motivation, the reason why I’m still continuously dreaming and fighting for my dreams and goals in life and the main reason why my life is worth living for. No matter what happens this special person never gives up and leaves me and I know that she’ll always be there for me and will not let me feel alone. I’m very lucky and happy to have her, and I’m proud to tell everyone in this auditorium that maybe I don’t have a perfect mom but I would like you to know that for me I have the best mom in the world. Mommy, I know that I may not the ideal daughter that parents would have, I may not be the good daughter that you wanted me to be, but I want you to know that all the things that I did and keep on doing, you are always in my heart and in my mind, I consider you as part of my decision as I want you to be happy and proud of me. I know sometimes you didn’t feel my love and care for you, that sometimes you become disappointed for the things that I’ve done but mom I want you to know that I love you so much, I know most of the time you cannot feel it but I want you to know you’re the only person on earth that I love and care more than myself. You’re my everything, my strength and my weakness and if I’ll have one wish, I wish that you’ll have enough energy to live life more than I can live because my life will be useless without you. Even my friends know how much I love you and I care for you. I know words are really not enough to express how much I love you, that’s why I’m showing it in the way that you’ll be proud of. Thank you po for everything, for always being there to guide me, to love me unconditionally and for raising me as a good person, thank you mommy and mahal na mahal po kita, all of this is for you. 😭❤️❤️❤️

As we receive our diploma today, the fruit of our hard work and sacrifices that we had and to all the sleepless nights that we’ve done just to meet the deadlines of our thesis, research papers and other projects and stuff. I would like to congratulate my fellow graduates, as we will just start to fulfil our dreams in life and to face the real world. And to start the real challenge of life for us.

Always remember that learning never stops on the day that you leave this Pamantasan, rather, learning is a continuous process, let’s not stop learning because life never stops teaching.
